Sunny Days, Sunflower

A field of beautiful sunflowers.

Does the sunflower remind you of the very sunny days recently?

Sunflowers may like the triple digit temperature and full sun, not sure human and bunnies are that fond of the hot weather.

California State Fair - Final Part 6 Dinosaur

California State Fair differs from other fairs having a Dinosaur exhibit.

Carolyn says,  Yes that's me inside of the dinosaur's mouth.

The exhibition features 14 dinosaur animatronics in action.

No one wants to encounter a "speedy thief", it likes meat.

A purple dinosaur?  It's the light.

California State Fair - Part 4 Food and Drink

A fair can't be a fair if you don't try some greasy oily deep fry veggies.

Fried Zucchini with buttermilk ranch dressing, yummy.

Cinnamon rolls after deep fry, weight buster!

Add some more cotton candy, it'll take quite a while to recover.

The wine garden gives some quiet and shaded pleasure.

These are the vines that produce grapes...

and more vines...

and the wine.

California State Fair - Part 3 Farm Exhibits

Fairs stated when the agriculture was the way of life in the old days.  It's a place for the farmers to exhibit their harvest and accomplishments.    Needless to say that the farm exhibit is a major part of the California State Fair.

Butte County shows off their major products.

Who can resist beautiful flowers.

Yolo County is still quite rural.

Solano County is now quite developed, farming is only a small part of the activities in the county.

Sonoma County is a mix of cities and some agricultural use.

It's a beautiful display of plants, flowers and a gazebo.

Carolyn poses as a butterfly in the farm.

Tree ripe fruits, the best.

Apples and Lemon, popular fruits.

The Japanese egg plants are relatively new in this country.

corn is the main crop all over the country.

California State Fair - Part 2 Small Animals

The small animals program at the California State Fair is "Fur and Feathers".  The animals included are listed on the sign.  If you wish to read it in larger prints, click this image.

"Fur and Feathers" is a term used in UK, all the rabbit competition are combined with poultry and other fowls.

Rabbits are in the display cages.  Judging from the condition, these cages probably have a long history at the fair.

"Meat Pen" or "Doe and Litters" classes usually have more than one rabbit in each coop.

A Lop in Harlequin color?   Not sure whether this is an accepted color in the Lop Color Guide.

Flemish?
There isn't any Angora in the show.

2017 is the Year of the Rooster.   On the lower left side, the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals are listed: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Hog.

A human size chicken statue.

A sign welcome fair goers coming into the chicken area.

Here is a majestic looking real rooster.

And cute baby chicks.

It's not exactly a chicken but satisfies the "feather" part of "Fur and Feathers".

Carolyn Goes to the California State Fair - Part 1

It's time of the California State Fair at Sacramento.

Carolyn and hubby took a whole day to explore the fair.

California is such a great state that there are so much to be explored.

Carolyn is interested in all sorts of crafts, so we'll start at the craft building.

There are signs explaining the hand crafts division.

The painted box, the quilts, the shawls, ... beautiful.

Crochet crafts.

These shawls are absolutely gorgeous.

Knitted and crocheted items, woodworking, painted art, quilts, and even a stuff lobster, crafters are full of imagination.
