Chucky Says Hi

Chucky is half of the duo "Fluffy Brothers".   Now that he is over 3 months old going on 4, it's time for him to have his own condo and identity.  Meet Chucky or even Chubby.   He is almost twice the size of his brother, they sure don't look like two peas in a pod.

Both brothers are good eaters, just don't know who Chubby, oh no, Chucky grows so fast.

Bunny Treats

The five-week-old bunnies are eating solid food.  In addition to rabbit pellets, they are also given a variety of treats.  Here a bun is eating a small piece of papaya.

Buns sharing a piece of apple peel.

Green grass is so natural.

Buns love the fresh corn husk and corn silk.

By given bunnies a variety of treats at a young age, they'll get used to different tastes and develop more adaptable digestive systems.   In this case, they are sharing apple peel, fresh corn silk and corn husk.

Beautiful Rabbit Art

Here is another beautiful rabbit painting from the Wells Fargo Asian calendar.  The plum blossom is considered as the national flower of China.  Rabbits are associated with the moon as we have learned from various literature and folklores.  The rabbits in this paining are admiring the moon.

Tu'er Ye 兔兒爺 the Rabbit God

Read an article in a magazine about Tu'er Ye that sounded very interesting.   Let's explore what Tu'er Ye is.

Tu'er Ye is a folk figure unique to Beijing, China.

The Tu'er Ye is considered as Rabbit God to show the respect for the Jade Rabbit that came down from the Moon to save the sick people, see a YouTube video with subtitle:
Tu'er Ye - YouTube

UC Merced Library has an exhibit of the Rabbit God, see:
Exhibit: 兔兒爺 Tu’er Ye: Old Beijing’s Rabbit God | UC Merced Library

Tu'er Ye is also considered as a protector of families.

The Tu'er Ye clay figurines are very popular as children's toy or adults' collector items.

The figurines are all handmade, the creative process is considered as a traditional art form.  The YouTube video above also shows how the figurines are made.

Nashville Convention Center Stepstones

As we have seen a few days ago, Carol visited Nashville.   She says, "The convention center has these stones installed in steps to entrance. Just took photos of a few".

Though most would say that Blue Suede Shoes was an Elvis song, the original songwriter and recording artist for this song was Carol Perkins who released this song in 1955.   Elvis recorded it and released it in 1956.

Dolly Parton is the songwriter and recording artist for "I Will Always Love You", recorded in 1973 and released in 1974.   The song was written when Dolly decided to part with Porter Wagoner to start her solo career.   Whitney Houston recorded it for her movie "The Bodyguard" in 1992 and became a huge hit.  It was reported that Dolly Parton earned over 10 million dollars royalty from this cover.

Peggy Sue was not written by Buddy Holly though he was the original artist recorded this song in 1957.   The songwriters are Jerry Allison and Norman Petty.  Peggy Sue was Jerry Allison's girlfriend and future wife.

Bobbie Gentry is the songwriter and recording artist of Ode to Billie Joe in 1967.   It became a huge hit and Bobbie Gentry became a huge star.  However she was not interested or comfortable being in the limelight, all she wanted was to be a songwriter.  She performed and remained active for a while, retired in 1982 and never seen in the public eye again.

Stand by Your Man was co-written by Tammy Wynette and Billy Sherrill, Tammy Wynette recorded it in 1968 and became Tammy Wynette's signature song.   As we probably recall that this song was even mentioned in CBS "60 Minutes" segment during an interview of the Clinton's, and later caused a displeasure from Tammy Wynette.

Munching on Flowers

Pretty yellow flowers, do you recognize what these are?

If you don't recognize the flowers, maybe you'd recognize the leaves on the lower right corner.   These are broccoli!  We normally buy the broccoli crowns in the markets, don't see the flowers.   When the broccoli crowns are allowed to bloom, they turn into beautiful yellow flowers.

The broccoli flowers are safe to eat, Gilly is enjoying them.  Gilly is wearing a sweater, in case you wonder.

Simone likes them too.

Monique says yum yum.
