Backroads Studio Tours in MA

 
 
 
Chris O in MA recently joined a backroads tour on Oct. 13-14 weekend to visit the local craftspeople. 
 
This pottery is made by Rick Hamelin (Pied Potter Hamelin) and his wife Garine Arakelian (Kulina Folk Art) of Warren, MA. All redware is either hand thrown or drape molded and has a lead free glaze.

Kimberly has good news from Florida, her colored doe Flowers Wild Flower wins Reserve In Show.  This is Kimberly's first big win with her English Angora.

Big Time Roman Wins All Breed 4-Class and Specialty Best In Show





Judge Jacinta picks Maureen's handsome boy Big Time Roman all breed 4-Class in Xenia, OH.

In the Midwest during the Best In Show judging, the best light weight rabbit and the best heavy weight rabbit are selected first then the two rabbits compete for the Best In Show title. 

Light weight rabbits have 4 classes: senior buck, senior doe, junior buck and junior doe thus called 4-Class rabbits.   Heavy weight rabbits have 6 classes: senior buck, senior doe, intermediate buck, intermediate doe, junior buck and junior doe thus called 6-Class rabbits.

Judge Hannah picks Roman as the specialty Best In Show in Marietta, OH.

Old Washing Machines at Harvest Festival

 
 
 
In the Harvest Festival at Santa Rosa, there are display of old machines.   To wash clothes, one would first have to get water off the ground.
 

Washing board and pressing board are the beginning of the aid to cloth washing.

 

Washing board with the aid a gas engine gives the idea of making a washer for clothes.

 

Here is the first Maytag cloth washer; Maytag is still a big name in the appliance world.
