Cute Duck Family in Morgan Hill

Found this cute picture of a duck family on our local website.    Usually we only see the mama duck with baby ducks in tow, it's very unusual to see a daddy duck joining the family.

Couch Potato In Place

Gina got retired English Angora grand champion doe Kendria in 2019, and enjoy couch potato life together.

In January 2020, Gina adopted another retired English Angora grand champion doe Quinlan from Betty.

The two girls get along wonderfully, during the shelter-in-place time, they are the resident couch potato in place.

The couch is a good place to watch TV together.

Indigo Girl's Daughters

Indigo Girl has a litter of 7, only two are girls.

One is a tort and the other fawn.

Color wise, neither looks like dad or mom.  Dad is REW, HGF Lemmewicks and mom Indigo Girl is blue.

Obviously both parents carry the non-extension gene e to get tort and fawn.

Their grandma Gifta has won multiple BIS and RIS in open shows, so is their mom Indigo Girl.  Gifta is the French Angora Rabbit of The Year 2018-2019 and Indigo Girl is the French Angora Rabbit of The Year 2019 -2020.  Can one of these two follow the footstep to be a major contender?

No matter whether they will or they won't, at least they are pretty and sweet.

They love each other.

Having Fun with Baby Buns at Home

I was prepped to do a video interview with a news media, I took the chance to have pictures taken with my future show star.

The little tort girl is very cute, got great body and wool.

It's good to have a nice big yard during the shelter-in-place, we can enjoy the outdoors together.

This little white doe is very nice too.

Spring Barn Cleaning

There isn't any shows during this "shelter-in-place" period of time, but these Angoras are all in carriers.   Why?

If you ask for their preference, they would say they prefer their regular condos.   Their condos had just been thoroughly flamed and power washed in November, the scheduled big cleaning is not until late summer early fall.   "Shelter-in-place" gives a lot of time at home, so daddy Albert and mama Betty decide to move the buns out for a spring cleaning.

While adults need an individual carrier as temporary housing, the youngsters can share their previous indoor nursery.

Rabbit condos to be flamed and power-washed, veggie garden has just been planted behind the big stackers, and on the right are the winter crop of fava beans.    The persimmon tree on the very right has nice tender new leaves.   It's a beautiful spring day.

Some more stackers in the barn waiting to be flamed and power-washed.    The top right is the swamp cooler that keeps the buns cool and safe during the summer.    The rabbit stained glass to the left of the swamp cooler is the Best In Show prize for Chu's Erica, won in December 1985, it's the first major Best In Show win for the Chu's English Angora.

These feeders are all hand washed and each and every hole is cleaned by a skewer stick.

After two full days of staying in the garage, rabbits are back to their thoroughly clean condos.  Buns are happy, mama Betty is happy.

Pineapple Cut and Turtle Cut

What's the "pineapple" all about yesterday?  It's the pineapple cut!   Bushy top resembles the pineapple crown, the scissor marks resemble the patterns on the pineapple skin.

If the groomer removes the wool on the legs, tummy and side trimmings but keeps the wool on the top, it's called a turtle cut.    We thank Debbie for using her English Angora to demonstrate these two cuts.
