Show A Satin Angora and French Angora Judging at Monterey

There are quite a few of beautiful Satin Angora on the table for consideration.

Josh and Ethan work on the white senior doe class.

One of the pretty white girls took the BOB honor.

Josh comments on a French Angora colored senior buck.

There are four beautiful French Angora colored senior does in the class.  On the table is a blue doe.

This is a more matured chocolate agouti doe.

The gentlemen prefer chocolate!

The BOB goes to the chocolate doe.

Frieda, To Cut or Not To Cut

Frieda at Portola Valley shows, she did really well, winning two BOB out of three shows.

Frieda after the Monterey shows, still pretty but ....

....her 2 younger cousins won over her in the two shows at Monterey.   Her coat is 1-1/2 years old, still flowy, still mat-free, still dense, but does not have the luster and finish as a young coat.    Decision decision, decision, to cut or not to cut?

Show A English Angora Judging at Monterey

In show A, judge Josh starts Angora judging with English Angora.   In addition to Josh, at the table are Ethan and Alan.  Ethan is working on his registrar's license; he flew in from TN to complete his last training.    Alan is help to clerk but he is also interested in learning from Josh as he is going to take his test very soon.

Josh shows the fine points of evaluating English Angora to Ethan.  On the table is a chocolate tort buck in the colored senior buck class.   He is actually a "bump-up".  A bump-up is usually a 5-month-old animal competing in the senior (over 6 months old) class.

Another colored senior buck is being taken out of the judging coop.

Now on the table are the colored junior does.

Both Alan and Ethan are paying attention to how Josh pose and handle the rabbits.

Further checking on the junior does.

Josh blows into the coat to do the final decision.

There are three colored senior does in competition, one older doe being handled by Ethan and Josh is checking on the two younger ones.

Ethan gets to handle the two younger senior does.

Josh and Ethan like both the senior doe and the junior doe, they are comparing the two to pick the BOB.   And the senior doe wins.   These two class winners are actually less than one month apart in age, one being a bit over 6 months old and the junior just a few days shy of 6 months old.
