French Yarn from Simone and Monique

This is a skein of 100 percent French Angora two ply yarn, where does it come from?

Simone and Monique were cut down in the early spring, their wool are in the process of coming back.

Their wool have been in bags for quite a while, I finally have some time to spin it into yarn, here is a close up.

Soaking in the water overnight.

The next day, I spun up another skein of the same wool from Simone and Monique.

The skein on the left is wet and the skein on the right is yet to be soaked.
The French Angora yarn are fluffier than the English Angora yarn but not as silky and soft.

Evans Waits for His 3rd Coat

While Evans did really well with his first coat, won 3 legs and achieved the grand champion status, his second coat earned him 10 more legs.

After the Petaluma show in July, it's time for him to get another hair cut.

One side is done but another side still has wool.

Evans's wool on both sides are cut and draping on the sides, exposes his little round body.

All the side wool pulled and clean up the tummy wool, Evans is ready for the a hiatus from shows.   Wait until his third coat comes in, he'll be baaaaaack to the shows!

Show A Best In Show Judging at Petaluma

Though it has been over two weeks since the CRCS all breed shows at Petaluma, we savor every moment as there has been so few shows in the summer.

Show A Best In Show judge is Kate Smith.

Judge Kate is handling the BOB French Angora.   Kate is a high school Ag teacher, very familiar with animals.

Judge Kate brings out the BOB English Angora.

Even with a full coat of wool, it's important for any Angora to have a good body.  Judge Kate presses down the wool to feel the body.

Judge Kate is impressed with the body and the wool, Betty's English Angora wins the Best In Show.  Joe Kim's Mini Rex is the runner up Reserve In Show.

More of Alice's Paintings

Alice combined the images from our photos of sunflower, tomatoes, zucchinis, cucumbers, string beans and made them into a veggie basket.

Beautiful Hibiscus flowers.  Hibiscus is a tropical or sub tropical plant, quite common in Taiwan but not as common in Northern California.   Alice does a great job to show the beauty of the plant and the flowers.

A pretty rose painting, based on our small rose plant in our front yard.

Show C Satin Angora Judging at Petaluma

Judge Kathi has a lot of Satin Angora on her table.  Judge Louis comes over to visit.   Judge Kathi is quite familiar with English Angora and French Angora but this is the first time to judge Satin Angora in our area.

Judge Kathi comments on a colored Satin Angora.

After placing is over, judge Kathi discusses the texture with judge Louis and Casey.   She feels that this is a good experience to judge and to learn.

Careful examination of the texture and the sheen.

Judge Kathi and judge Louis and Casey are discussing the two white Satin after the placing is done.
The Satin Angora BOB goes to the white senior buck.
