Dasher is Dashingly Handsome

Dasher is the only French Angora junior born at Betty's place.   He gets to monopolize the bed.

Dasher is a goofy boy, he likes to dash from one end of the condo to the other, Carolyn gave him the name.    As you can see in this photo, Dasher's favorite treat is green bean.

Once a while Dasher could stay still for a bit.  Where is your other ear?

I have both ears, don't worry.   I am a bit sleepy.

Night night,  zzzzzz.....

Bunny Power: Sunflowers, Sunflowers and Sunflowers

\
Black oil sunflower seeds and whole oats are mixed with rabbit pellets to give rabbits fiber and oil.

There was no plan to grow sunflowers but ...

...sunflower seeds being a part of the rabbit diets and also being the squirrels' favorites, it is inevitable that the seeds are spread around.   In the middle of the veggie garden, these sunflowers gloriously bloom in the sun.

At a different spot a bit outside of the veggie garden, an extra large sunflower blooms.

This spot is intended for a small bamboo patch but the sunflower is growing faster and bigger than the bamboo shoots.

Bunny powered veggies, bamboo shoots and the sunflower.

The sunflowers inspire Alice to paint.

Bunny Power: Veggie Garden

Betty and Albert's veggie garden is growing well.

It's more accurately to call it Albert's veggie garden powered by Betty's bunny poos.

It's not that large a plot but it's covered with fast growing veggies.

Even the green onions are large plants.

One day harvest of cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans.

More green beans.

More cucumbers.    Luckily most rabbits also like cucumbers, so each gets a slice as treats.

Zucchinis that grow too fast and met the fate of being pulled out, human cannot keep up and rabbits won't touch it.

Tomatoes are starting to ripen as the temperature soars.

Wild Turkey Visits Betty's Home

What is it?   A wild turkey in our backyard!

Our backyard is totally fenced in with 5-1/2 ft. redwood fence.  The turkey must be able to fly that high.

The turkey is not happy having me following her.

Going to visit the rabbits?

The veggie garden is more appealing.

Evans with Second Show Coat

Evans loves to go to a show.

Some people said English Angora has only one coat.  Really?  Look at mine!

Do you like my coat?

My coat is easy to manage, mama Betty said she loves it.

My coat is dense, beautiful and I have been winning more legs with my second coat than with my first coat.

Betty Grooming English Angora at Portola Valley

While Casey is grooming her beautiful white Satin Angora, Betty is busy grooming an English Angora.   This is Tess's first time going to an Angora show, she watches both Betty and Casey groom.  Tess is now a proud owner of one of Casey's beautiful Satin Angora juniors.

Though I do not have many English Angora youngsters, I am able to bring back the show coats of older rabbits.   This is Evans who is in his second coat.

Evans has a very nice second coat, actually even better than his first coat.   It takes more effort to bring back a second coat than keeping a first coat but it can be done and it's rewarding.

This is the only colored junior English Angora I have, Auston is 4-1/2 months old and starting a nice first coat.

Joanna is still in her first coat; born January 2020, this is her 17th month coat.   Joanna and Evans are littermates, Evans is an early bloomer while Joanna is a late bloomer.   Each has a nice coat at the end of June 2021 and still nice in July 2021, Joanna in her original coat while Evans was cut down and has come back to a second show coat.

We thank Carolyn Sawai for all the nice photos she took at Portola Valley.   Without her being there busy taking photos, we would not have so many scenes to share.

Casey Grooming Satin Angora at Portola Valley

Casey grooms her shiny one: Satin Angora.

Blowing a Satin Angora.    Casey has a bumper crop of Satin Angora recently, she has been showing more Satin Angora than the English Angora though the English Angora is her main breed.

Carolyn takes a close up shot of Casey's black Satin Angora buck.
