Sevenelle Continues Her Journey

Last time we saw Sevenelle was in November 2021:
Northern California Angora Guild: Sevenelle Grows (ncag.blogspot.com)

She continues to grow her wool, this is her in January 2022.

She is already quite pretty at January 2022 but still look young.

Now in June 2022, she is definitely a beautiful lady.

In May Sevenelle was able to win the legs needed to be eligible for grand championship. She is a bit slow in growing but usually the slower growers tend to have more durability in keeping the show coat.

Found On the Net: Needle Felt Bunnies

Found these images on the net, these are needle felt bunnies using sheep wool.   They are cute, do not seem to be too complicated.  Not anything near the felted Lilianna made by Carolyn.    For some of our Angora people who have lots of wool on hand, may want to try to make some.

Meet Maura and Merida

Hi, I am Maura.

I am Merida.

We are sisters.

Tell you a secret, they had met us in the past, they just did not know our names.

We were itsy bitsy then.

When we were little, we were the Valentine bunnies.

We were also the St. Patrick's Day bunnies.

Simone is Back to Shows

Simone's wool is growing back nicely.

How many times has her coat coming back?  Lost count.

Whenever she looks nice, she's back to shows.

Simone was born in 2020, competed with her littermate sister Monique.   After 2020, the two sisters take turns to go to shows.  Simone has been shown in 2020, 2021 then 2022.

This is Simone on the table on May 21.   Monique was cut down in April then Simone starts showing in May.  Out of 6 shows in May, she won 6 legs, of which 5 are BOB and 1 BOV.   What will she do in June?  Stay tuned.

CRCS Camping Show at Gridley

During the Memorial Day weekend, CRCS sponsored a 3-day camping show weekend.

Many of those who stayed for all 3 days set up camps or slept in their vehicles.

The show was relatively small but those who went liked it.

Some commented that the social interaction was great.

Casey was the only Angora person went to the show on Sunday.  Here is her beautiful doe on the table.

Casey took these photos to share with us.

For sure there are lots of space for those who attended.

Carolyn Needle Felts Lilianna

Most are quite familiar with this photo of me and this big white doe.  Her name is Chu's Lilianna, this photo was taken in July 2011 at Watsonville.   Lilianna won Best In Show that day, the photo was posted on blog for the first time: Northern California Angora Guild: Lilianna Wins All Breed Best In Show in Show A (ncag.blogspot.com)

Lilianna won Best In Show 17 times in 2011, this photo was used quite a few times.  Nothing happened for almost 3 years then in February 2014, Huffington Post picked it up and this photo went viral.   The entire year of 2014 was "crazy" as news media requests flooded in, this photo plus others were reported all over the world.  The peak happened in August 2014 when Guinness invitation came in requesting an attempt for a world record.   By then Lilianna had long retired from shows thus no longer wearing her beautiful show coat.   Franchesca was in her prime and received the world record of 14.37 inches of length, became the "Longest Fur on a Rabbit".  The record still stands today.

This is one of the photos being used in a lot of news reports and websites.

Here is another photo of Lilianna that was used in a quite a few of websites all over the world.

Is this also Lilianna?  Yes and No.  It is not really an English Angora though it looks so much like one.  It is a needle felted English Angora using Lilianna's wool.

The artist is Carolyn Sawai.  Carolyn has not met Lilianna as Lilianna retired from showing in 2012.  Using Lilianna's wool is a good way of getting close to Lilianna.

It takes a lot of time and effort to make this needle felted Lilianna, Carolyn uses a glass display case to protect it from dusts and elements.
