Showroom Scenes at the Alameda County Fair Double Open Shows

Alameda County Fair has a long tradition of having open and youth rabbit shows.  In the past, the rabbits were required to be cooped and stayed for several days and nights.

Starting in 2025, rabbits were no longer required to stay at the building unless the owner wishes to offer their rabbits for sale.

Since it's no longer required to stay at the fair, the show has become much more popular.  In 2025 there were two judges but in 2026 there are 4 judges to handle 740 entries with 370 rabbits physically present in the showroom.

The showroom is quite crowded.   Those of us who show our rabbits in the one-day show are sharing the showroom with many other small animals in coops.   What are the other "Little Critters" (see the second photo)?

Silkie chickens and parakeets.

A closer look at the Silkie chickens.  They are the "Angoras" of the chickens, pretty and elegant.

Pigeons.

More parakeets.

Doves.

Fishes.

And.... Snakes!

Isaura Visits Grandma Casey

Isaura is on a break from school, visits grandma Casey and coming the San Jose show.

Even though Isaura is not in every show but she always has at least one rabbit participating in the show.

It is so natural for Isaura to be in a show, she virtually grew up in rabbit shows and so was her dad Cole.   Cole was in shows since he was preteen until he went to college.   Now Isaura is not that far from college life.

This post concludes the photos and reports from the Santa Clara County Rabbit and Cavy Shows at San Jose.  The next show at this location will be on November 14-15, 2026.   Hope to see all of you.   We will report on the Alameda County Fair shows starting tomorrow.
