Image of the four slain police officers.

The information about the four officers and the quilt.

On March 21, 2009, a convict shot and killed four Oakland police officiers. It was one of the worst days for law enforcement in CA.

This leather mosaic quilt is a moving tribute to these four officers. To read more about it, click the second photo to enlarge.

Country Music Concert At The Alameda Fair

Alameda Fair has an impressive line-up of entertainment during the run.
Country group Lonestar performed on July 10.

It was a hot afternoon, people baked in the sun.

The show started at 6 pm, it's still sunny and hot.

The group has been around since 1992, has had quite a few hits. The most well-known hit is "Amazed" which stay on #1 country chart for 8 weeks in 1999.

The current lead singer is not the one who sang "Amazed", his sound is quite different from the original song; the original lead singer left the group in 2007.

Adam And Heather's Honeymoon In Greece

Adam was a familiar face in the rabbit show circuit some years ago. Carol G. started in rabbits when her son Adam and daughter Kendall wanted to have rabbits thus her rabbitry carries the prefix of "AK's".

When Adam graduated from high school, he wanted to have a party and a Fuzzy Lop specialty show in the backyard for his rabbit friends. Time flies, now Adam and Heather are married; Adam is about to graduate from medical school after a detour of getting a MBA degree. For the wool breed exhibitors, we are the beneficiaries of his high school graduation party because Carol's backyard shows/party have now grown to cover all the wool breeds: American Fuzzy Lop, Angora and Jersey Wooly.

We thank Adam and Heather for sharing their honeymoon pictures with us. Their wedding was held in Italy and their honeymoon was spent in Greece.

Competitive Spinning On Ravelry

Ravelry is a social website for fiber artists. There are lots of patterns, interchange, competition and activities that are too many to count. Currently there is a competition "Tour de Fleece" going on. Spinners compete to spin the longest yardage with one ounce of fiber. Chris joins the "Footloose Spinners" team; all team members are owners of Hansen miniSpinners.

On the plastic tray is one ounce of camel down and tussah silk blend.

This is a closeup of the blend.

So far 0.7 oz of the blend are on the bobbin.

Chris uses a dime to show the fineness of the yarn spun.

Cat Show At Alameda Fair

Carol G. says,

"At the Alameda County Fair, there are opportunites to show all kinds of animals, especially for the 4-H kids. For the past two years I have judged the cat show. This show is for any cat, any breed, or cross-breed. The show was small this year, with only 4 cats, but the kids showed in conformation, showmanship and dress-up, everyone's favorite. We had a Fourth of July Princess, as well as Santa and his elf in the contest. Everyone was a winner in this contest!"
