Stitches East 2013

Stitches East 2013 was held in Hartford, CT in early November.

There are lots of booths and lots of classes.

This lady has a furry skirt that looked like angora.
She said she knitted the skirt and put in inserts
of some fake fur they sell in strips.

Ashley just wrote a book on
spinning and dyeing. Here is a link to her book on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Spinning-Dyeing-Yarn-Spinners-Traditional/dp/0764166077/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1384098615&sr=1-1&keywords=spinning+and+dyeing+yarn

This is the cover of Ashley's book.

Oscar Moves In

Last time we saw Oscar in a post was in July

Oscar was a feral cat that Maureen befriended.   After months of trying, he finally accepted Maureen's petting but still he would not get inside the building.

Maureen gives Oscar a piece of carpet but Morty decides that he likes the carpet too.

Oscar is getting brave, he is at the doorway accepting Maureen's hand rub.

Maureen is very pleasantly surprised to find Oscar inside cuddling in one of the cat beds.

Trouble (back) likes Oscar, he joins Oscar in the cat bed.

Oscar now is truly a part of John and Maureen's family.

Betty Knits at the Lodi Show

It's toward the end of the show, most of the rabbits and show equipment are packed in the mini van.   Betty is knitting and waiting for the show B Best In Show judging.

Casey says, "I'm all packed up and ready to leave, just come by to say goodbye".

Here is the finished pair of fingerless gloves that Betty was knitting at Lodi.

Julie and Itsy Bitsy Pixie

There is a little head poking out of Julie's jacket.

Julie says, "This is my 2-year-old Chihuahua Pixie".

Julie and Pixie are color matched in their wardrobe, hot pink and pastel pink.

Carolyn Visits at Lodi

Carolyn is a loving owner of a pet English Angora from Casey and a pet French Angora.  She is fascinated by rabbit shows and likes to follow our blog posts, but does not have interest in showing.   She has visited the huge WCC shows at Reno in May and she came to visit at Lodi.     We'd like to thank her for letting us use some of the pictures she took during the show.

Beautiful Chestnut Agouti Ring

Judge Nita is commenting on Eleanor, a French Angora chestnut agouti doe.   John is writing on a comment card; Lindsay and Carol are listening to Nita's comments.

Eleanor is an older junior but being shown in the senior class.   Still in the coop is Meara, mother of Eleanor, who won the class as she is more mature.

Though Eleanor is still too young to be competitive in the senior class, her ring definition is sure beautiful.

For informational purpose, here is the description of chestnut in the Standard of Perfection:
"Surface color is a rich chestnut, ticked with black tipped guard hairs.  It shall have one or more intermediate bands of tan, alternating with slate, with a blue-gray undercolor."
