Cyndie's Fun Parties

There're fun parties going on at Cyndie's place. Garden party for rabbits and spinning party for fellow spinners.

Things are not always this "normal". During the winter, the snow, the rain, the wind and the uprooted trees damaged Cyndie's rabbit barn and made a mud lake around her home. Cyndie and her family had a difficult time getting around. Thanks to the nice weather, finally things are getting back to normal.

Thanks to Cyndie for sharing the photos with our readers.

Maureen Wins at the Ohio State Convention

In the Ohio State Convention in early May, our Ohio member Maureen did really well with her small herd of four. In the specialty show, Jaclyn took Best of Breed and her father Chu's Bruno took Best Opposite White to her. Here is a picture of Maureen with judge Pam Nock. Maureen is holding Jaclyn.

In the state convention open show, Jaclyn's parents Chu's Marissa took Best of Breed and Chu's Bruno took Best Opposite Sex of Breed. Maureen is thrilled.

With such a small herd, Maureen is winning over those who have many more rabbits. Quality over quantity is definitely her motto.

"Secret" On TV

The "I've Got a Secret" segment with Betty and Emilia was aired on Monday night. Since it's on a cable network, not every one has the chance to see it, including Betty herself. Thanks to good friends, Betty now has tapes of the program.

To share with our readers, here are pictures taken from the program to give a glimpse. The segment lasts 8 minutes.

From top to bottom, Betty came out with Emilia and Starena, an assistant helped to put Starena and two babies on the floor. Bil was the host and started the introduction. Two of the four panel members, Germaine and Suzanne, are in their blind folds in two of the pictures. Then finally the secret was revealed as "My rabbit won Best In Show" at the end with a photo of Betty and Emilia with a Best In Show trophy.

A Big Win for Cathy and Kim

Cathy and Kim have been showing and breeding English Angora for less than two years. In Bakersfield, their tort junior buck Shakespeare took Best Opposite Sex of breed in show B and the junior buck class in show A. Best Opposite Sex is definitely a major win! Shakespeare and his sisters have been winning the junior classes for a while, now the little guy is closing in on the senior buck.

The top photo is our proud boy Shakespeare, and the second photo is his sister nick named Big Bertha for being the biggest baby in the litter. Bertha, or officially Desdamona, won the colored junior doe class in both shows.

Red Hot Bakersfield

It must have something to do with the climate at Bakersfield, red and hot are the two words best describe the show on Saturday.

The temperature was in the 90s but felt like in the 100s, our two judges dressed in red, so was our assistant secretary.

In the top photo, Linda is examining a tort English Angora. Linda has been a long time judge based in So. California. She has been judging since the 1980s.

In the second photo, Ray is checking a fawn junior English Angora. Ray is one of the judges who we regularly see in our show circuit. He will be the 2009 convention Angora judge.

In the third photo, Kathy is working at the secretary's table. Kathy is the better half of Joe, ARBA district director.

It sure was a red hot day at Bakersfield.

Armando, Bonnie and Kathy

The Kern County RBA held their May show on Saturday. Their reception to the exhibitors was very warm. The only thing that was warmer than their reception was the weather, it was HOT, HOT and HOT. Those of us who come from the north need to be reminded that Bakersfield is hot during May.

The top photo shows our favorite judge Armando who is the superintendent of the show with his better half Bonnie. In the second photo, Armando is seen hosing down the horse arena to reduce the dust. In the third photo, Bonnie and Kathy are working at the secretary's table.
