April with Purple Hair

April says, "You won't miss me in any place, my hair is purple".

Cathy and Betty join April for a photo op.

April and her 4-H girls with Betty's English Angora white doe Chu's Ida.

By looking at April's purple hair and Ida's white wool, one could tell how windy it is at the edge of the pavilion.

April's little Jersey Wooly buck is the Best of Breed winner of show A and the Best Opposite Sex in show B.  The little toy is the prize for the wins.

Show Scenes at Bakersfield

Kern County RBA May show is not as big as the January show but it's still well attended.

The judging tables are set on one corner of the pavilion.

The pavilion is very nice and roomy, exhibitors could spread out their rabbit stuff.

The judging tables are at the far corner, the photo shows the exhibitors' view of the judging area.
Armando is singing Happy Birthday song to his fellow KCRBA member.

Though the youth and open are shown together, it does not reduce the enthusiasm of the youth exhibitors.

The temperature is in the 80s in the morning then reaches 90s in the afternoon, the fans on the ceiling and this large evaporative cooler is invaluable to keeping rabbits and exhibitors comfortable.

There are two "Port-A-Cool" units in the pavilion in addition to the cooling fans in the ceiling.   The outside temperature is in the 90s but the show area is in the low 80s, very tolerable.

English Angora Photo on Science World Magazine

Betty received a request for the permission to use her photo with Lilianna in the Science World magazine.   According to the magazine website:

"Science World, providing your middle school and high school students with science news and rich informational texts that connect STEM to the Common Core."

Betty said yes.   The photo appears on the back cover of the April issue of which Betty has just received.    The photo provided a blank spot for the students to caption the photo.  What will be the winning caption?   The curious mind wants to know.
