Thriving Veggy Garden

We have a good size vegetable garden that is green and full of life.

The rain and the sun help the veggies bloom.

What kind of veggy is it?

The plants stand about 4 feet tall and have white/purple flowers.

These flowers will turn into Fava bean pods and inside the pods are the delicious Fava beans.

Bees Love Lavender

Just outside our family room there is a blooming lavender plant.

Honey bee working hard.

Another close up of a hardworking honey bee.

Another honey bee doing its job.

The bumble bee are bigger than the honey fee.

And fuzzier than the honey bee and they are equally hardworking.

Meeting New Old Friends

The fun about rabbit shows is that one makes new friends and reconnects with old friends.   Betty makes a new friend with Lisa then finds out that Lisa is an old friend.  Lisa's mom is judge Barbara Talley who had judged Betty's English Angora frequently in the 1990s.   Lisa was with her mom often but did not really chat with Betty.   Twenty some years later a reconnection is made at Stockton.      Betty happens to be holding Gifta, and said to Lisa, "Show this to your mom, I have some French Angora now."

Betty Grooming Gifta

Where is Betty?  Gifta is big enough to cover most part of Betty.

Mama Betty, do you have to do this to me?

I think I am pretty enough.

Casey Busy Grooming

At Stockton, Casey is grooming her handsome English Angora white senior buck.

On Casey's grooming table now is the beautiful tort senior doe.

Both the white buck and the tort doe have just turned senior recently, these two rabbits will be dominating the English Angora table for several months to come.

The next in line to be groomed is the Satin Angora junior.

Casey positioned the baby Satin Angora for tummy grooming.   At this age, there's very little work.

Carol and Her Two Wool Breeds

Carol's first breed is the American Fuzzy Lop.

The American Fuzzy Lop are valued for their huge heads, the head carries 30 points and the ears carry 10 point.  We are looking at this 40 points of heaven.

Hey, where are you going?

In AFL, there are more bucks winning the BOB than the does as the bucks usually have big bulky heads.

The French Angora is Carol's second breed but she loves the fact that it provides so much more wool for spinning.
This one coat of French Angora wool is more than the wool that a Fuzzy can produce in a year.
Carol is a very accomplished spinner and knitter.

Carol's  handsome French Angora buck won 2 BOSB and 1 BOB at Stockton.

Happy Easter 2018

Are we the Easter bunnies?

Or the Easter bunny is made of chocolate?

Chocolate and English Angora bunnies wish you a Happy Hoppy Easter Sunday.

Two years ago on March 27, 2016, CBS published a segment called "The Real Story of Easter Bunny" on "CBS Sunday Morning" then posted it on YouTube.    The segment is about 8 minutes long.    At about 3 minutes, we see a rabbit show in PA.   At about 6 minutes, Betty introduces Angelique, daughter of Franchesca and mother of Brighton.   Following the part on Betty, Eric gives a demonstration of cutting down his French Angora doe Sunny.    Click if you are interested.
