Show B Angora Judging at Merced

Show B Angora judge is Ray Stacy, also the show superintendent.
Ray is very happy with the venue and we can see why, it's so spacious and airy.

Ray turns over the English Angora to check on the underside.

The BOV colored goes to the senior buck.

The white senior buck wins BOV white then BOB due to his excellent type.

Judge Ray has the white French Angora on the table.

Judge Ray considers the body type very important.

The French Angora colored senior doe got body type and wool and gets the BOB.  She goes on to win Best In Show.

Mika Goes Naked

Mika is a handsome boy.  At the BVRA show B, he wins over his sister and won BOB.    That's a big surprise and also a big honor.  His sister Graceann is a 4 time all breed Best In Show winner.   Mika got lucky!

As lucky as Mika got at Merced, good things still have to reach an end.

Without any shows in the reasonable distance in the next two months, there is no incentive to keep this big coat during this hot summer temperature.

Mika is getting a hair cut.

Mika is a good boy, patiently going through the cutting process.

Mika's wool is like a waterfall.

Mika is feeling a lot lighter with the wool coming off his body.

Getting close to the end.

Almost there....

Mika is sporting his summer do, a naked look.  Very relaxing and very light.

Nice New Venue at Merced

Big Valley Rabbit Association holds double open double youth shows at Merced on Saturday, September 19, 2020.

Due to the closure of the San Joaquin Fairgrounds at Stockton, Big Valley RA almost had to cancel the fall show.   Luckily the Merced County fairgrounds came to the rescue.

The Hillmar Cheese Barn has 36,000 square feet of space, lots of open air, solid cement floor, huge fans, ...  it's a great venue for social distancing and air circulation.   Show sponsors and exhibitors are so impressed with the facilities that many more shows will be held at this location.

Carol has American Fuzzy Lop and French Angora on her stands.

Pattee has her Lionheads.

Betty has her English Angora and French Angora.   The wool breed exhibitors are close to the columns because each column has an electric outlet.
