Mid Autumn Festival 2012

September 30, 2012 is the Mid Autumn Festival in the lunar calendar.  This festival is also called Moon Festival or Rabbit Festival or Harvest Festival.

The moon is the roundest and brightest on the 15th day of the 8th month in the lunar calendar, it's told by the old legand that there is a rabbit in the moon.

This painting shows the legend of Churn O flying to the moon with her pet rabbit "Jade Rabbit" to escape from her abusive emperor husband.    Churn O and Jade Rabbit live happily ever after in the moon.
