Beautiful Phalaenopsis Orchid

The phalaenopsis orchid is Carolyn's favorite flower.

Carolyn found a orchild farm near Carol's home.  When she visited the June show, she stopped by to buy this plant.

After many weeks, the orchild is still in bloom.

Beautiful display.

Green Persimmons

The Persimmon is one of my favorate fruits.

The Persimmon fruits are only available in the late fall.

Summer is the time when the green fruits appear, seeing them means there will be goodies coming up in a few months.

Don't be tempted by the green persimmon fruits because they will make your tongue feel "weird" because it has tannins in the unripe fruit.       According to google:
"Tannins are astringent, so when you take a bite of an unripe persimmon your mouth will feel very dry. Tannins are actually a natural antioxidant, which means that this fruit is great for your health.

Alba Carries Her Big Coat

Alba won double all breed Best In Show in mid May then specialty Best In Show in June.  Her coat was impressively huge.

It is now mid July, Alba's coat is still gorgeous and ....

... big and mat free.

The great texture and density are still there.  Can't wait for the Monterey show in two weeks!

Bao Bao and Bei Bei's Two-Month Anniversary

Hi, remember us? We are Bao Bao (right) and Bei Bei (left).

Mama Betty brought us home on May 13.

We were a little nervous, this was a new experience.

We were itty bitty little boys on May 13.

Today is July 13, it is our two-month anniversary of coming home with Mama Betty.

We have been very helpful to Mama Betty, we look after her yarn collection.

We help to organize her yarn basket.

I make sure the TV performance is good to watch.

We help Mama Betty to cook.

I help to unload the dishes.

We help to empty the grocery bag.

We guard Mama Betty's pretty pictures.

We also have to tame the fish.

It's so exhausting to be the helpers, we need a nap!

Mama Betty told us that we are very good boys.

Maura Maura Maura

Maura is a cute little junior in this photo.

Maura is very typey, very compact.

Maura has nice furnishings and strong ears.

Maura has good potential.

Maura is close to 6 months old in this photo.

Maura is pretty but not yet show competitive at this age.   No show for a while, it's time for her to rest and grow some wool.

Beautiful Angora Woven Art

I received this piece of woven rabbit wall hanging in 1990.  The material is 100% Angora.  Not sure which breed but I'd guess it's English Angora.  The halo is subtle, there isn't much visible guard hairs.

The other side has exactly the same design but with opposite color.  How was it made?  Since I don't weave, I have no clue.   It is a very impressive piece.  It has been hanging on my wall since 1990, it has not shown any sign of deterioration.  Why is it taken off the wall?  For a photo op?   To tell the truth, my
rumbustious kitties Bao Bao and Bei Bei jumped and got it off the wall.   I decided it is not safe to hang such a gorgeous piece on a space that the kitties can get to.  Before finding a different wall to display it, I'd like to share the image on blog.

It is really the same piece!

How did I obtain this gorgeous piece of woven art? I'll get a story together for a future post.

Gifta Gets A Hair Cut

Gifta is a beauty.   With a full mat-free coat, she could go to shows again, but it's not making any sense to do so.

The next natural step is to be cut down.

Gifta's skin is clean and healthy.

Nice smooth body.

Gifta is a calm rabbit, sitting there without any issue during the cutting process.

The prime wool are harvested.  The side and chest will be harvest into a different bag due to different length.    Because Gifta is a chocolate agouti, the tummy color is lighter than the color on the back and sides.

A big bag of long prime wool from Gifta's back and sides.
