Jasabeau Enjoys a Crisp Winter Day

Hi, it's me, Jasabeau!

Mama Betty said I can come out to enjoy a dry day after the rain.

It's wonderful to have a nice crisp day.

It's nice to have some rain, but it's even nicer to be able to enjoy a clean air day.

I love today!

Special Christmas Cards 2023

Christmas cards could be generic just to show the holiday spirits.  Christmas cards can also be very special to show the designers' love.  Here are two Christmas cards that are very special, designed by Carolyn Sawai and Stephanie Berry.

Carolyn Sawai's 2023 Christmas card is specially designed to feature her love of English Angoras Princess Imari, Princess Fawnessa, Princess Flower Girl, Princess Quinzanne, Kitty Fallyn and the Kimekomi Dolls.

Stephanie Berry's 2023 Christmas Card features her beloved Champion Shih Tzu Jolie Jolene. Stephanie also includes a felt rabbit pin to show her love for rabbits.

Memories of Petrified Forest and Painted Desert

Fifty-years is a very short time in the millions of years it took to make the Petrified woods in the forest and the gorgeous colors in the desert, fifty-years is a lifetime for a human.   In the summer of 1974, Albert and Betty also visited Petrified Forest and Painted Desert.  Here are some photos of me in my 20s.  Yes, that's the young Betty Chu before having rabbits.  That's the Betty Chu who was in the early stage of her teaching career, that's the Betty Chu who was completing a one-year assignment at California State University at Long Beach and going to San Jose State University to start a tenure track career.   Young and without rabbits, traveling around was not an issue.

Painted Desert in Arizona

The Petrified National Park is actually two parks in one, according to the website.  The other part is the Painted Desert.   As the name suggests, the desert has beautiful colors. From on-line source, "The Painted Desert is composed of stratified layers of siltstore, mudstone, and shale of the Triassic Chinle Formation, which erode easily.  These fine grained roch layers contain abundant iron and manganese compounds, which provide the pigments for the various colors of the region.  The depositis of iron, hematite, and aluminum mix with oxygen to create orange, red and pink colored stone."
Needless to say that when Albert and his sisters visited the Petrified Forest, they also visited the Painted Desert.

A lone Studebaker is parked next to Route 66.  A reminder of the old time where Route 66 was the original highway of the country.   In addition, Studebaker that was manufactured in South Bend, Indiana has a sentimental feel for Albert as Albert and Betty were married and lived in South Bend, Indiana for several years when attending the University of Notre Dame.

Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona

Petrified Forest National Park is location in AZ. The most important and well-known part of this national park is the Triassic fossils.

A plaque describing the petrified woods at the trail gives an explanation about the petrification.

Recently Albert and his sisters paid a visit to AZ and the surrounding area, he is sharing some of the photos taken at the Petrified Forest National Park.
