It's Birthday Time for Bao Bao and Bei Bei

It's a birthday celebration! No one is one year old, the candle is just for celebration.

My white cat Bao Bao is 4 years old now.   He is a big boy at almost 19 pounds.

Bei Bei is the littermate brother to Bao Bao.   He is not a small boy at 16 pounds but he is mostly being addressed as the little cat.

Bao Bao and Bei Bei used to be teeny tiny.   They were found at Merced County Fairgrounds at 4 weeks old on May 12, 2022.  Teresa who was the CEO of the Merced Fair at the time put their photo on her facebook to find a home for them, and I'm the lucky one to have adopted them on May 13, 2022.

They were so tiny that I could carry both in my hands.  Bao Bao was 16 ounces and Bei Bei was 15-1/2 ounces.

From 4 weeks old to 4 years old, where did time go?

Assist Bart and Wife from Thailand

For those who are working to become an ARBA judge, they have to be an ARBA member for at least 3 years, then pass the oral and written test to become an ARBA registrar.   To become an ARBA registrar, they have to work on 4 assists and register a minimum number of rabbits to qualify for the next step.  After 2 years, they will have to pass the oral and written test then work on 8 assists.

For us who live in a good climate area, we have shows almost every month.   It's not the case in states that are too cold in winter or too hot in the summer, they are not able to host rabbit shows every month.   We have seen the judge-candidates travel to California to work on their assists.

Now that rabbit shows are becoming very popular in other countries especially in Asia, we now see more judge-candidates flying to California to work on their assists.  Even though the weather in some Asia countries is generally good enough to have shows regularly, the fact that they have to hire licensed ARBA judges from the US makes show-hosting very expensive thus not as many sanctioned shows are held overseas.

With this background information, we now understand why we are seeing two judge-candidates coming from Asia in the recent two months.   In February we saw Alex Ong who now has received his license #1074.     Today we are featuring Mr. Bart Wuttichai from Thailand.

Mr. and Mrs. Bart Wuttichai from Thailand.

On Saturday, March 14, 2026, Bart starts his first assist with judge Allen Mesick.

We have seen Bart's photos with Angoras, so we'll post his work with the American Fuzzy Lop.

This post completes the photos and reports of the fun weekend of March 14-15, 2026 at Santa Clara Fairgrounds in San Jose.  It was a great success with over 3,000 entries.  Will see everyone at the same venue on Saturday May 30, 2026.   This May show will have not only rabbits, but also cows, goats and pigs.  Come by to enjoy!
