It's Persimmons Time

It's December, the leaves on the persimmon trees are all gone and the persimmons are turning orange red.

Don't these persimmons look like tomatoes?

This is the Fuyu variety of persimmons.   They are eaten like apples, crunchy and sweet.

Another persimmon tree that has fruit that look slightly different.

This is the Hachiya variety of persimmons; these have to be eaten when totally ripe, so ripe that the fruit is mushy.   If eaten before the right time, you will feel as if your tongue is thickened.
