Visit From Cousin Amy

Betty says,

"This is not bunny news, but fun for me. My cousin Amy came to visit for a few days, she lives in a suburb of Toronto. We grew up together in Hong Kong when we were kids.

The top picture was taken in Morgan Hill, CA and the bottom one was taken in Hong Kong when we were less than 10 years old. I am a year older, so I was the taller one; Amy grew up to be taller than I. It seems to be just yesterday that we were little girls; in a flash now we are two old ladies.

We had not seen each other for about 5 years, it was a nice visit."

Found On The Net: Turtles Race Against Jets

We all know of the fable about the hare and the tortoise had a contest, the slow but steady tortoise won the race.

This is no fable: a group of close to 200 turtles, cousin of tortoise, won the race against the jets at JFK airport in New York on June 28, according to news report:

"Nearly 200 diamondback terrapins landed on Runway 4L in an amphibious assault that brought several jumbo jets to a standstill, Port Authority officials said.

Coming ashore from Jamaica Bay, the turtles crawled across a taxiway and the runway in search of a serene and sandy place to lay their eggs."

To read a more detailed report and watch a vidio go to:

You can listen to the pilots and the control tower going back and forth to figure out when and how the jumbo jets could use the runway.

Judge Also Likes To Take Picture

During the shows at Carol's, we took a lot of pictures.

Judge Johnny was caught taking pictures of a junior English Angora white doe. A while later when judge Wade examined the English Angora white doe class, he also stopped to take pictures. Unfortunately our hands were not fast enough to catch Wade's picture-taking act.

How Long Is Lilianna's Wool?

Betty gets the question of "How long is Lilianna's wool?" quite a few times. It's time to do a measurement.

A blower helps to see the inside of Lilianna's wool.

A closer look shows no webbing.

An even closer look shows nice and clean skin.

Measuring on the left side of Lilianna's body shows the wool length more than 12 inches.

Measuring on the right side of Lilianna's body also shows wool length of more than 12 inches.

It's safe to say that the length of Lilianna's wool is more than one foot.

Lilianna Wins Triple Specialty Best In Show

Lilianna is in prime with great density and length at 13-1/2 months old. She wins the specialty Best In Show in all three shows at Carol's backyard show and party in Portola Valley.

Betty is quite happy with Lilianna; she won her first specialty Best In Show when she was a junior in October 2010; between then and now, Lilianna has won mulitple all breed Best In Show and Reserve In Show. She took a rest when her sister Lucianna was burning up the show tables; now she is back.

Judge Johnny likes Lilianna.

Judge Wade also likes Lilianna; Judge Wade has placed Lilianna all breed Best In Show earlier this year.

Nancy concentrates in taking comments while Sandra watches.

Hi, Sandra and Nancy, take a break and smile!

"Remarkable" Animals

Most of us have received from various forwards of lists of photos of "strange animals" or "weird animals"; English Angora is usually included on these lists; and most of these photos of English Angora were lifted from Betty's websites or blogs.

Recently a magazine asked Betty to use a photo, and once again this is a list of unusual animals. This time nicely these animals are called "remarkable animals".

One of Chu's Lilianna's photos is at the lower left corner.
