Angora National and WCC Event Weekend

The big event of the West Coast Classic this year is back in Reno today.  It is a major event for rabbit exhibitors and for the Angora people, it is extra exciting because it's also the Angora National Show.   It has been a long time since the Angora National being held in the west, it was 2005.   Northern California Angora Guild is the hosting club and we are very excited to be doing this.

This blog will take a two-day hiatus so that we could concentrate in working on this event and also having fun there.  We will be back posting on Monday morning.

Another X Rated Act

Judge Carol G. is directing an X rated act.  Didn't she do another one in March?

Yes, she did.   Lena's doe had two stillborn bunnies so another X rated act is needed.

It's a good sex education opportunity for the youth.

Franco Visits at Stockton

See who's here, Franco!   Franco and Tracy were very active in the rabbit shows with various breeds including but not limited to Satin Angora and French Angora prior to 2009 then they decided to move to a smaller place and got out of rabbits.   Franco is still very active on the internet rabbit sites but very seldom seen in shows until this weekend.   What a surprise and a treat.

Rita Peralta Remebered at Stockton

After the double shows were done and most exhibitors left, a memorial for Rita was displayed for her close friends.   Rita was the founder and the secretary of the Big Valley Rabbit Association since day one.   She was instrumental in promoting the club and the shows; she was also one of the pioneers of utilizing computerized show programs.

Dolores on the right of the display.  To the left of the display are Rita's daughter, granddaughter and husband Larry.

Rita's granddaughter tearfully recounts her grandma's kindness and generosity.

Friends listening to the memorial.

Marie's 100th Birthday Celebration at Stockton

Marie was a Netherland Dwarf breeder and exhibitor until she was 90 years old.   She is 100 years old now, no longer showing but her heart is still in rabbits and rabbit friends.

A beautiful and delicious cake to celebrate Marie's 100th birthday.

Here is the birthday gal, a young 100-year-old Marie.

Marie and her friends.

It would not be a birthday party in a rabbit show without a magician with a rabbit in his hat.
