New York City Subway And Yummy Pizza

Betty reports,

New York subway is a part of the daily life for millions of people in NYC but not for me, the country gal from Morgan Hill, CA. Excuse me for being the novice of taking pictures and blogging about riding on a subway!

After returning to Essex House from my walk at Central Park, Amy called asking whether I'd like to join her and Matthew to go to Time Square for a pizza lunch. I jumped at the opportunity.

The 57th Street station is where we started our subway ride.

An incoming train serves as a background for my photo op.

Amy and Matthew on the train.

We got off at Rockefeller Plaza. This is also the plaza where NBC studio located.

Amy and Matthew love this little Italian pizza shop.

I have a big bite out of a slice of this very rich pizza.

Have you ever seen a pizza topped with fried calamari? This is the first time I've ever seen one so I got to try it; and I thank Amy for the treat.

High-Rise Jungle

Betty reports,

There are so many high-rises in Manhattan that it would be hard for the sun to peek through; it was not a sunny day so I did not have any proof.

It is interesting to visit but I don't think I would be very happy living in a high-rise.

Central Park is in the shadow of the high-rise buildings.

Anywhere you look, high-rises are visible.

The famous Empire Building is not too far from the hotel.

Lots of yellow cabs transporting people from one high-rise to another.

One of Donald Trump's buildings.

A closeup of the Trump's condo building.

Essex House is a combination of hotel and condo.

Essex House has a huge sign on top of its building. I found it very convenient as I was worrying about not being able to find my way back to the hotel. This sign sure helped.

Central Park At New York City - Part II

Betty reports,

I took quite a few photos at Central Park, I am posting some more to share.

There are lots of statues in the Central Park. This is the one that I could see from the hotel.

Then I entered this "Liberty Walk".

More Statues lining both sides of the walk.

Columbus.

Walter Scott.

Fitz Greene Halleck.

An indoor merry-go-around.

The plaque on the wall of the merry-go-around.

Children's playground.

Lots of fat squirrels at Central Park, I wish I could send those in our backyard over there to join the crowd.

Central Park At New York City - Part I

Betty reports,

Since there was not much to do in the hotel room, I decided to walk across the street to the Central Park. I did not have any plan, I was an accidental tourist. I walked around and took photos of whatever seemed to be interesting.

A map of the Central Park.

The temperature is in the 50s, the sky is gray but not rainy, I am having a pretty nice walk.

Being an animal lover, the first thing that I look for are the dogs. Isn't this little dog cute with the little red shoes?

The cute dog's mama is good natured enough to allow me to take a picture of them together,

Another dog walker.

An ice rink!

Donald Trump owns the rink.

The cute little house is a gift shop. At 9 am, the shop is not yet open.

Horse carriage, another Central Park scene.

Bad News On Friday Morning

Betty reports:

On Friday morning, I got up at 5:30 am to groom Lilianna and Lucianna and to get myself ready for the 7 am pick-up. The "Rabbit Fever" segment was scheduled for 7:45 am. I opened the carriers lids then turned on the TV, what I saw was bad news....

The picture on TV shows the early report of earthquake in Japan, people were running out of buildings.

Then TV picture shows the tsunami damage to the coast of Japan.

A little after 6 am, Amy called to tell me that she received a phone call from a producer, Today Show would be putting on full coverage of the earthquake and tsunami. The "Rabbit Fever" segment would be canceled and to be rescheduled sometime in the future.

Not much to do in the hotel room, I decided to let Lilianna and Lucianna to come out of their carriers to have a little exercise.

I don't usually let rabbits out in a hotel room, well, I very seldom bring rabbits into a hotel room.

The two sisters normally only see each other on the judging table when each earns a BOV title to be considered for BOB.

In the hotel room, they chase each other just like when they were bunnies.

Lucianna really likes the corner under the desk.
After Lucianna and Lilianna had their exercise, I cleaned up after them.

The "Rabbit Fever" spot was originally scheduled for 7:45 am.

At that exact time, Ann Currie interviews a Japanese professor talking about the earthquake and tsunami. See the time of 7:48 am next to the leg of Ann Currie's chair.
