Show C Angora Judging at Hollister

Show C Angora judge is Alan Rafferty from CA.    This is Alan's second show since he received his judge's license.   He has work as "judge's assist" in Angora judging several times.

A colored English Angora on judge Alan's table.

Judge Alan checking body.

There are two Giant Angora bucks in the show, one is a senior and another intermediate.    Intermediate is also called 6/8, which means the rabbit is within the 6 to 8 months old.    Giant Angora is considered a heavyweight rabbit, thus no upper limit on weight and has an intermediate class.  The heavyweight rabbits are also called  "6-class" rabbits because there are senior, junior and intermediate classes for bucks and for does, altogether 6 classes.   The English Angora, French Angora and Satin Angora are considered as lightweight rabbits, either it's junior or senior with 6 months old as the dividing line.   The lightweight rabbits are called "4 class" rabbits because there are senior buck, senior doe, junior buck and junior doe classes.

The French Angora has a commercial body, should be solid in flesh condition.

Show A Angora Judging at Hollister

Show A judge is Scott Rodriguez from WY.   Tess is working with him to gain credit for her registrar's license.  The first breed of Angora that they judge is the English Angora.

Judge Scott lines up the top two English Angora colored senior bucks to show Tess the fine points.

The colored senior doe is more impressive than the colored senior bucks and receives the BOB title.

Next breed is the Giant Angora.

While judge Scott and Tessa are busy working on the Giant Angora, Betty is getting the next classes organized.

Though there are only 2 Giant Angora, they have the chance to compare the texture of an older buck and an intermediate buck.  The older the animal, the coarser the wool.

The next breed is the French Angora, Carolyn watches.

While Tessa is checking the black senior buck, judge Scott is working on the blue senior doe.

Both examine the chocolate junior doe.

And there is the cute little white junior buck.

The blue doe is the best colored, the chestnut buck in the middle is the best opposite colored and the white junior buck is the best white.

The same three winners from the other side, competing for the titles of BOB and BOSB.   The BOB goes to the blue senior doe and the BOSB ….

… goes to the cute little white junior buck.  Mama Carolyn is very happy.
