Oldies are Goodies

Judge Scott Rodriquez used to show English Angora in the 1980s when he was a youth.  Then he switched to Holland Lop in the 1990s, still a youngster.    Here are his old breed mamas, Betty on English Angora and Chris on Holland Lop,  when he was young.   

Another youth exhibitor in the 1980s in the Watsonville/Monterey area was Paul Fickas.  He was about 10, 11 years old when Betty and Chris started showing.   We were sorta new at the time in the early 80s, now we are definitely grown up and grown old.    All the old memories.

 

Kevin Whaley Visits at Monterey

It is a pleasant surprise to see ARBA Hall of Famer at Monterey.   He's having a selfie with Carol

Kevin usually appears in major shows and shows in southern California, his home base.  It's not common to see him in a local show in northern California.   He's having a selfie with Betty.   He explains that he came up because there were specialty shows at Corralitos the day before Monterey and he wanted to visit....

Kevin says, "I hadn't been back for close to 20 years. But some of my earliest memeories were coming up there in the mid 1980s.  And then I definitely remember coming up there after the Santa Cruz earthquake.  But it was very nostalgic to go to the historic Corralitos Market and that beautiful show under the pine trees."  

Corralitos Market is well-known for their sausages.  Kevin must've love sausages!

 

Joe is Not My Son!

There is a long break between show B and show C, including a lunch break.   Betty got a visit from rumored son Joe Kim.     Joe posted this selfie on his page said, "Me and Betty. No, she is not my mom".   I guess I need to say, "Love Joe but he is not my son"!

Despite not being my son, Joe takes a nice picture of me grooming my white doe.

 

Joe likes my T-shirt and the message, wants a clear photo of it.

Show B judging English Angora is Lauralee Erbe.

The colored junior buck class is a hit.

The juniors are cute and nice.

It's hard to choose but judge Lauralee and judge Jeremy place them exactly the same.
