Big Fat Fuzzy Green Mittens

Carol found a pattern for big fat mittens, she uses commercial lump yarn to test the pattern and love the outcome.

The next step naturually was to make the mitterns with Angora yarn.   Betty's dyed green lumpy English Angora yarn fit the bill.    The white commercial yarn is used to add a lining to the cuffs.

Here is one of the finished mittens.  Angora yarn has very little memory, if it stretches out, it does not go back.  The white commercial yarn lining is to help secure the mitten on the wrist.

This is how it looks when the mitten is on Carol's hand.

Where is Monique?

Monique at 3-1/2 years old has gone through many coats.  She comes back with nice show coats time after time.

Is this Monique?  Where is her head?   Nope, it's not Monique, it's Monique's wool from her back.  How did it go from the first photo to this photos, let's see.....

Monique's cut starts from just behind her neck.

More cuts from Monique's neck to to her back.

Line by line, the cut goes closer and closer to Monique's tail.

The cuts are extended to all sides to expose Monique's body.

Monique's wool are falling to the sides.

A side view of Monique's wool fall.

Monique has a good butt, doesn't she?  By pulling the wool off her body, we get:

... this big pile of wool!

Nothing lifts spirit up than seeing cute little bunnies.  Mama on the left is so proud of her accomplishments: 4 healthy and beautiful sons and daughters.

Are they precious?

Maura Gets Her First Haircut at 18 Months Old

Maura was born in January 2022, she holds on to her first coat for 18 months! During these 18 months, she accumulated 23 legs with 19 of them being the BOB and 3 of the BOB wins advanced to Best In Show.

Everything good has to end sometime, that first cut is the hardest.

Going from the middle of Maura's back, the cut extended to all sides.

The wool falls.

It's a big wool fall ....

.... and a beautiful round body.

Carol's Herd of Ducklings

Remember Carol's new ducklings?  They arrived at the end of April.

Within a month, their soft baby fuzz disappeared, replaced by something that looked like feathers but not really feathers.  This is the ugliest stage for ducklings.

They grow fast!  Now at 3-4 months old, the mature feathers has come in.   The mature feathers repell water, they look good.     This smaller pool seems to be a bit crowded, so...

... Carol bought them a bigget pool.  While one is brave enough to jump in quickly, the rest are still circling the pool to see whether they should join in.

Samuelson Gets a Haircut

Samuelson is a handsome boy.

He has big strong ears and a handsome face set on a sturdy body with lots of wool.

He goes to shows and he is filling the judging coop.

He is a good boy who always behaves well when being judged.  Judges like him and as a result he cumculated enough legs to be a grand champion.

It's so hot recently, he would not mind to shed his heavy coat for a while.

It feels good not to have to wear a wool coat during the summer.

Samuelson has a big bushy tail even after getting naked.
