The 4H Building at Napa

The 4H meeting room is very nice.

There is a kitchen area with essential appliances.

Due to the need for power supply for the blowers, Angora exhibitors need to stay close to a building.
The 4H club is very kind to allow the Angora to stay in the meeting room.

Casey brought a shade for outdoor grooming.

Youth Activities at Napa

The open and youth shows are both sponsored by the Napa 4H club.  It's hard work for the youth and their families to accommodate so many exhibitors.   Originally the club was expecting entries that would utilize 3 judges but the entries were double of the expectation.   Two more judges were invited at the last minute.   The name of the judges,  the breeds they are judging, and the orders of the judging are posted at the check-in table.

There is a detailed display of the youth club and their previous activities.

Showmanship competition is being conducted in conjunction with the rabbit show, Kate is the tester.

Lena and Juliette, two happy youth exhibitors.

There is another youth activity: Rabbit tube-running contest.   Youth members are getting their rabbits ready to go into the tubes and the moms are getting ready to take pictures.

Who is the first one to get out of the tubes?

The winner is the white Mini Rex.

Mid Autumn Festival 2013

Today is the Chinese Mid Autumn Festival. White rabbit is looking at the full moon waiting for Jade Rabbit to appear.

It is the belief in the Chinese tradition that on the 15th day of the 8th month on the lunar calendar, the moon is the fullest, roundest and brightest of the year.  It's a day for "Moon Appreciation".

This day of beautiful full moon is called the Mid Autumn Festival or the Moon Festival or even the "Rabbit Festival" due to the legend of Churn-O flying to the moon with her pet rabbit Jade. See: http://ncag.blogspot.com/2008/09/legend-of-mid-autumn-festival.html

The Napa 4H club sponsors two open shows and two youth shows in the park connected to the 4H office.  Tables are set up for checking in, raffle, prizes, displays, ...

Exhibitors bring their own shades.

This is a nice cool area for people and rabbits.

A young lady is leash walking her bunny.

The center of the show: Judging area.

There are five judging stations for five judges: Manuel Hidalgo, Randy Shumaker, Melissa Magee, Stan Bell and Linda Bell.

Sun is setting, it's after 5 pm, some of the shades are knocked down, there are only few breeds that still need to be judged before the Best In Show judging.

There are few people in the park getting ready to load the rabbits and pack up miscellaneous show supplies.
