Carol Likes to Walk

Carol walks regularly with her two dogs Dallas and Boo.  In June and July, she joined a walking challenge and recorded the steps.   At the end of the challenge, she achieved 610,000 steps.  With a lucky stroke, her entry to the challenge was picked as a winner for a gift card.    Dallas and Boo claim credit, expecting extra treats from using the gift card.

Blue scarves from indigo girls wool

Indigo Girl has this beautiful intense blue color coat that won her Best In Show and Reserve In Show multiple times.

No matter how good is the show coat, eventually it has to be harvested.

Here is a small batch of the spun yarn from this coat.

After the first scarf was made, the buyer is so happy with it that she asks for more.

More yarn spun from the same coat and two more scarves made and still have some yarn left.

Aabel Gets a Photo Shoot

How many bucks can claim to have won a Best In Show?  Not many but Aabel gets the honor.

Angoras are "wool/fur" breeds, bucks do not have as much estrogen to promote the wool growth as the does.  Usually the does win the BOB thus bucks do not have as good a chance to go onto the Best In Show table.

Aabel has a great body and good enough wool to have won a BOB then advanced to winning the Best In Show in August.

Maybe it's not so much of a surprise as Aabel's mom Annisha is a huge winner during her 9 months on the show table.  She won 40 BOB then advanced to winning 9 Best In Show and 6 Reserve In Show.   Though Annisha has had several dates but Aabel is her only offspring.  Aabel is working very hard to make her mother proud.

Aabel enjoys a pretty day in the sun with blue sky.

Graceann Gets a Haircut

'

Graceann still has a very nice show coat.

The show coat is big and heavy, a bit of a stress on both mama Betty and Graceann since there isn't any shows within a reasonable driving distance for two months.

With a very heavy heart and shaky hands, mama Betty gives Graceann a hair cut.

A big piece is put into a ziploc bag, the wool is long and luxurious.

More cutting and more wool.

Putting in another batch of the long wool.

A fluff big head with an itty bitty body, Graceann is now ready for .......

Betty's First Place Sweepstakes Standing 2019-2020

The final national sweepstakes standings are published in the National Angora Rabbit Breeders Club newsletter.   I feel very honored to stand at the first place position in both English Angora and French Angora.       This is the second time I got double first, the previous case was in 2016-2017:

Since 1988 I have been holding the number 1 position in English Angora, 32 years running.  I work hard at it.   French Angora is my side breed, I keep less than 10 at any given time and only show no more than 3 in any of the shows.   To be able to stand at the first place is a pleasant surprise; it probably has a lot to do with the Best In Show bonus points added to tallies.

Thank you to NARBC sweepstakes chair Robin Olson for keeping accurate records and doing prompt updates.
