Show C French Angora Judging at Petaluma

The French Angora exhibitors waiting to go on judge Kathi's table.

Table loaded, Stephanie and Carol check the paper work to make sure all OK.

Carolyn watches, she has quite a few juniors on the table, she is collecting the three judges' comments to help decide who to keep and who to avail to other breeders.

View from the judge's side of the table.

Judge Kathi is examining a junior class.   Juniors usually have softer coat with less guard hairs.  Among the four Angora breeds, French Angora has the highest percentage of guard hairs.

Show C English Angora Judging at Petaluma

Show C Angora judge is Kathi Groves.  The judge's assignment sheet shows Kaddi Groves because Cathy Sychulda is also one of the judges.  Kathi and Cathy have the same pronunciation, a bit confusing when exhibitors are called on the loud speaker.   Kathi got her nickname of Kaddi from Arie who had difficulty in accurately pronounce the "th" sound.

Lots of English Angoras on the table.

Colored senior buck on the table.

The colored senior doe is always the most impressive one.

That heavy?   It seems that Kathi is having problem in lifting the colored senior doe.
The colored senior doe goes on to win the BOB then the all breed Best In Show.

Show B English Angora Judging at Petaluma

Show B Angora judge is Louis Potter from Florida.  Louis lived in CA for several years and trained and received his judge's license in CA before returning to Florida.

Louis is young but experienced in handling wool, he even spins!

Alyssia Call is judge Louis’s clerk.  Alyssia is a registrar, we expect her to be a judge in a couple of years.   Leslie watches judge Louis.

Judge Louis blows into the senior doe's coat, a good educational moment.

Pattee is watching the judging from afar.   Judge Louis is decide whether the colored junior buck or the colored senior buck gets the BOSV.   The junior that is farther away won.  The English Angora BOB goes to the colored senior doe, then goes on to win the Reserve In Show in show B.
