Doggie Fashion
Becky and Hazel.
Hazel is a mama's girl.
This is the porch where the Angora people groom. Hazel is joining the Angora crowd.
Am I adorable, Hazel says.
I am a natural born fashion model, Hazel says.
Betty says,
"Becky was the registrar of the Myrtle Point shows. She said to me, Dawn said you have Angora sweater for dogs, may I see some?
I had two little doggie sweaters, so I showed them to Becky. Too small and too short, Becky said. I can knit one for you right now, how big is the dog? It's a 5-pound Yorkie Terrier, Becky said.
Becky picked out the yarn and color combination; I started knitting. When it got close to lunchtime, I had it done. Little darling Yorkie Terrier showed up and tried it on; too short again. I can add on by crocheting the edges, I said.
Little princess Hazel tried it on two more times and more crocheting, now the custom-made Angora doggie sweater is perfect for the little darling Yorkie Terrier. Isn't she adorable?"
Becky says,
"I tell everyone that I don't own an angora sweater but my dog does. People laugh until I show it to them. Then they love it."

How Much Is That Doggie In The Carrier?

Betty was surprised to read the following post by Lorena on the Showbunny list after the Yuba City show:
"Pet peeves, pretty much the same as others have stated, identifying your entries to the judge is probably my biggest one, maybe the judges don't care, but the other exhibitors do, another one is dogs at a rabbit show. Gheeze, come on have some sense, I could bring one of my Border Collies, they would lay down and stare at your rabbit all day, never move a muscle and probably give them a heart attack, "but they won't hurt your rabbit" is always the reason. Leave your dogs home. (Betty's little "dog" in a cage in a sweater doesn't count) For those that didn't get to see Betty Chu's "dog" yesterday, it was a clipped English Angora in a little doggie sweater that everyone tried to figure out if it was a dog or a rabbit, she had left the furry face and even given it a little poofy tail end. "
When Betty contacted Lorena to express her surprise, Lorena answered, "HI Betty, oh, yes, your dog was the hit of our aisleway! He was soooo adorable! When he ate out of his feeder, he looked just like a little dog eating out of his bowl."
Well, our readers may like to see what Lorena is talking about. The top photo is Tonnie with his full coat. He was winning Best Opposite Sex award to the pretty does all the way through the Lodi shows on November 26. He was entered in the Yuba City show on Dec. 3. When Betty discovered that his bottom was too wet and too messy to groom, he was clipped down in the show room. The second photo is the "doggie" look. How big is an English Angora? Well, our readers can see the majority of the rabbit is the coat.

Dogs at Stockton

Animal lovers are animal lovers, whether it's rabbits, cats or dogs. It is a common sight to see dogs in rabbit shows. Most of the clubs now have a rule of not allowing dogs, except the service dogs, into the show room. Therefore it is even more common to see dogs just outside the show room building.
In the top photo, Cathy is showing off her dog with a Mohawk hairdo. In the second photo, Brenda is carrying her dog with an Angora sweater on. Brenda has just purchased this sweater which is handspun, dyed and knit by Betty, the color is Kool-Aid Kiwi Green.

Kathy Visits the Santa Rosa Show

It is unusual to find Kathy, our newsletter editor, in a show. Kathy does not show and works in a shelter, rabbit show is not her cup of tea. It was wonderful that Kathy decided to come to Santa Rosa to visit us, who she had not seen for quite a long time. Kathy walked through the showroom, chatted with old friends, and had a good time. On the top, Kathy is seen holding Emilia, the Best In Show rabbit in show B. On the very right corner of the photo, our readers may see a small stuff dog. This dog is wearing an Angora sweater. It is a "model" that Betty uses to show off the doggie sweaters she makes.
In the second photo, Kathy is seen inside the show room.
It was so nice to see Kathy again, wish she'd come to visit more often.
