Northern California Angora Guild held a specialty show in conjunction with the Big Valley RA shows. All four breeds of Angora were in attendance. Best of Breed English Angora went to Betty's colored senior doe Emmy, French Angora went to Dominique's colored junior doe, Satin Angora went to Tracy's white senior doe and Giant Angora went to Tracy's white junior buck.

Keelyn Wins All Breed Best In Show
Seeing Keelyn winning all breed Best In Show is not something unusual. What is unusual is that this is an all breed Best In Show in the Youth show, it is the Open all breed Best In Show!
Keelyn entered two of her Mini Rex in the open show and guess what? She won over all the open exhibitors in the Big Valley RA show B. Judges from left are Tony and Eunita.
Competition is going to be even more intense for open exhibitors when Keelyn goes into Open shows in June.
Great job, Keelyn.

Randy Guest Blogs About Houston Livestock Show - Part II Youth & Meat Pen

I judged for 3 days- one entire day by myself to do over 150 meat pens- then 2 more days with Mike Avesing. Here was the area for meat pens- all 450 animals come to the table at once!

The HLSR awards hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money to the youth. The rabbit show alone gets nearly 40,000$, with 17,000$ going to the meat pens. Here is the grand champion which won 5,000$.

Spectators for the Youth Best In Show judging. There were 1,200 rabbits in the youth show.

Randy Guest Blogs About Houston Livestock Show- Part I
I judged the Houston livestock show and rodeo last month. It was my 3rd opportunity to do show. It is similar to our cow palace show and rodeo- about 100 times bigger and better- mainly because there is still a focus on agriculture there- unlike California. It is held at the Reliant Center which has I believe 400,000 sq ft under one roof. I would guess it has attendance similar to one of our larger fairs here in California. Here is one of many banners hanging in the main foyer stressing agriculture and why it is important for society.

Holly's Pandora Wins All Breed Best In Show and Reserve In Show
Holly and hubby Glenn with judge Jean Safford; Pandora was awarded Best In Show.
Cathy examines Pandora very carefully. Cathy is a very thorough judge.

Pandora in the judging coop, all squished.
When Emmy was winning Best In Show and Reserve In Show in California, her cousin Pandora was doing the same in Canada. Holly's chocolate tort doe Pandora did extremely well for her.
Judge Jean Safford from WA awarded all breed Best In Show to Pandora; our CA judge Cathy Szychulda picked Pandora as Reserve In Show.
Holly had a great weekend in shows. Congratulations, A job well done.
