Piggy, Piggy, Piggy

Sonoma Marin RA fall show was held in conjunction with the Harvest Festival. There were many other animals either in competition or on display. These little piglets with their mama were a big hit. People just could not get enough of them. Some were nursing, some were playing and some were roughing with each other.

Just wish that they would never grow up to face the reality of the pigs' destination.

The story of Churn O and the Jade Rabbit was posted on our blog on the day of Harvest Moon Festivals in the previous years:

Moon Festival is also known as the Mid Autumn Festival; it is the 15th day of the 8th month on the lunar calendar. This year, Mid Autumn Festival falls on October 3, 2009.

Found on the net are images of some of the moon cakes, the treat for the Moon Festival.

The traditional Cantonese moon cakes.

These are some of the common ingredients used in the traditional Cantonese moon cakes.

The new style moon cakes are less fattening and less sweet.

Would you believe that Haagen-Dazs markets ice cream moon cakes in Asia?

Elsa And Dominique Having Fun At Watsonville

Cathy judging Show A, Carol W clerks. Watsonville, RPSCV 9/26/09

Cathy chose Menn's Pudge as BOB. Pudge also won BOB in our Specialty show under Melissa.

Cathy judging the Youth show A. The girls watch closely.

The girls begged to do Showmanship. Kyle judged. Elsa still has to stand on her tippy-toes. Pudge was very cooperative for both of the girls!

And, they both wanted to do the costume class. Last year, Gabrielle planned ahead. This year, it slipped her mind. Fortunately, the girls are creative! Dominique enters the "Black and Orange" class by putting our black doe in an orange sweater. Dominique declared her to be a little farmer bunny. Elsa... well... She decided that Pudge would be a Youth Show Exhibitor. She borrowed Dominique's apron and put it on her. Notice that Pudge has a comment card and ribbon in her apron pocket? They had fun!
