Alana Learns about English Angora from Judge Cathy at King City

We posted an abbreviated version of judge Cathy Szychulda's judging of English Angora yesterday; the rest of the Cathy's judging of the English Angoras is posted here today.  Youth exhibitor Alana will be going to the convention competing in youth activities.  She asked to learn about Angoras as well as other breeds.  What can be better to learn from judge Cathy?   Judge Cathy's knowledge on all breeds is tremendous, she was the chairperson the ARBA Standards Committee for a long time, the current SOP was one of her contributions.

From these photos, we can see how patient judge Cathy is teaching Alana the fine points of English Angora.   The English Angora is a compact breed with short and round body type.  The wool carries 57 points, it's extremely important to understand the wool structure.   Alana not only gets an excellent teacher to learn about the English Angora, Alana also receives the chance to handle the top quality English Angora shown by Betty Chu.   At the end of the teaching, judge Cathy invites Betty to offer some opionions, and the BOB picked by judge Cathy eventually went on to win the show B all breed Best In Show under judge Stephany Brundage.      Alana also wants to be a judge in the near future, Stephany was in the same situation not too long ago, as a youth exhibitor who competed in ARBA conventions and won the Queen position then studied to become a judge; she succeeded and now in demand from all over the country.  Alana is not far behind.

French Angoras Win Best In Show and Reserve In Show at King City

Carol Green is well-known for winning Best In Show with her American Fuzzy Lops.  Her recent big winner Moody Blue has made a name for herself.    At King City, Carol has a different winner:  Her young French Angora chestnut doe Willow gets the nod from judge Cathy Szychulda as the show C Best In Show winner.

Carol is pleasantly surprised with the win as Willow is only 5-1/2 months old but competing in the senior doe class, and that chestnut is Carol's favorite color.   Willow has a bright future in the show ring.

French Angora Willow is not the only big winner, Carol's other senior doe Astro wins the Reserve In Show from judge Lauralee Erbe in show A.

It has been a great day for Angoras.   Two different English Angoras won a Best In Show and a Reserve In Show and two different French Angoras won a Best In Show and a Reserve In Show.   What other breeds won at King City? Stay tuned for tomorrow's post.
