Tachibina Dolls

These are called Tachibina Dolls, a very old type of Japanese Dolls.  Tachibina means standing, so "The Standing Dolls"

A close up of the gorgeous couple.   This pair of dolls are a part of Carolyn's course work in Traditional Japanese Doll Making.    It involves a lot of detail work.   Japanese doll makers takes the art seriously, each year on March 3rd, Japan celebrates Doll Festival.

The is the backs of the Tachibina Dolls.   Doesn't her long hair reminds you of Crystal Gayle?

Casey’s Temporary Normal

Casey's property in Vacaville sustained lots of damages during the LNU fire.   Her house is standing but her rabbit barn was burned down.   The area around her home lose all utilities as the power poles all burned, it is still a red mandatory evacuation zone.   Cal Fire issued passes to residents to go back to clean up and work on their properties but no one is allowed to live there.    Casey is fortunate to have supportive friends; after staying with her in-laws for a few days, Leslie invited Casey and family and animals to stay at son's home while they are in the east coast.    Casey set up her rabbits in carriers on the porch.   All her regular cages and barn are lost in the fire, the carriers are now a "normal" for her rabbits until a new barn is built and new cages purchased.    Though the carriers are small, rabbits are safe and adjusted to the new normal.   Casey's hubby Jeff had not seen how Casey set up in multiple-day shows, now he knew and was quite impressed.

These are Casey's 3 dogs.   They are free to roam in the yard, adjusting to the new normal well.   On the upper right is Casey's cart that rolls the rabbit carriers or dog kennels.

It will take weeks or even months before the power/utilities to be restored.  Jeff works at the property everyday, Casey spends some days working but also needs to prepare paper work for insurance.   This is her new temporary normal, she has a good attitude, concentrating in what she has and not thinking too much about what she lost.

Luca has a "Friend"

Remember me?  I am Luca, Fawnalisa is my mom.

This is me now.

Mama Betty said I could come in to meet a friend.

I was so excited, I thought I'd meet a girl.    This is my "friend"?

He is a dummy, I prefer a lady friend.

Installing Sprinklers on Barn Roof

With the heat wave plus the fire danger, Albert installs an oscillating lawn sprinkler on top of our rabbit barn.  Our home is  at the edge of mandatory evacuation zone, the fire over the ridge has burned over 300,000 acres and only 10% contained.

The swamp cooler at upper right is in full blast and the sprinkler working at the top.

This is the view from the front and side.   The sprinkler should reduce the fire danger and the temperature.   Albert also installed two sets of sprinklers on top of our own house.
