Carol's French Angora in the Top Five ROY

Carol has two pretty French Angora does in the top five of the current Rabbit of the Year (ROY). 

BCG1B gets the third place finish in the ROY contest.

Pretty opal doe BCG Isabella is BCG1B.  

The 4th place French Angora ROY is C31A.

Viviana C31A follows her mother Isabella into the ROY competition and received the 4th place finish.
It's quite amazing for Isabella to compete successfully and produced a litter with such a beautiful daughter during the same sweepstakes year.  

 

Betty's English Angora and French Angora are ROY

What is ROY? It's the abbreviation of "Rabbit of the Year".  It is an award installed by the National Angora Rabbit Breeders Club (NARBC).  Based on the Best of Breed (BOB) and Best Opposite Sex of the Breed (BOSB) won by each rabbit during the period of August 1 to July 31 the next year.  The calculation is as follows: BOB gets 2 points x the number of the rabbits shown in the breed, BOSB gets 1 point x the number of the rabbits in the breed.   The most current year final numbers have just been released, for the sweepstakes year August 1, 2022 to July 31, 2023, the ROY English Angora and French Angora breeds are:

Betty's girls are very fortunate to have received the first place ROY in both English Angora and French Angora. 

The first place English Angora ROY is BC9EL.

Here is pretty girl Chu's Maura BC9EL.

The first place French Angora ROY is BCG10U.

Pretty French Angora BCG Monique is BCG10U.  

In addition to the two top ROY, BC1AU gets the fifth place English Angora.

 

BC1AU is Chu's Chucky!   Not too bad for a buck, it's not easy for Angora bucks to win BOB.  Chucky's points are mostly earned from winning BOSB.

See What's Going On at Carol's Front Yard

After a fun visit and spending time at the French Angora barn, it's time to say goodbye.  Betty and Carol get to the front yard.

For those of us who have visited Carol many many times over the years, we have not used the front door.  It's a rarity to see a photo of the front door decoration.   

Guess who is visiting Carol's front yard?  A young deer next to Betty's van.  

Not one deer, there are two deers.

Not just two deers, there are three deers, if you can find all of them!

 

Boo and Dallas Greeting Carol

After Carol and Betty spending quite a bit of time at the French Angora barn, Dallas is anxious, where have you been, mom?

Boo joins in, he misses Mama Carol.

Boo and Dallas are good boys.

Boo wants to greet the photographer, Hi, Auntie Betty.

Dallas is happy to monopolize his mama Carol.

 

Wendy Joins the Carol's French Angora Family

Wendy travelled from convention to join Carol's French Angora family.

Wendy is a girl from the east but some of her ancestors had come west way before her.   He great great grandfather HGF Jim came west and joined Betty's French Angora family in 2013.  See:

Smokey and Bandit Protecting their Barn

Meeting Smokey and Bandit, Carol's two barn cats.

Bandit quickly climbs to the top shelf looking down, getting away from the intruder.

Smokey is a bit slow, got caught!

Betty tells Smokey that she is a good intruder, wanting to make friends. 

Smokey pushes Betty away, says, I don't believe you.

Raelynne’s First Appearance

Raelynne is a young senior doe.

She has yet to be going to a show.

It's unusual for a senior doe not to be shown, why?

She is beautiful but her teeth were a bit busy, look at her left side.

She is getting better not to exercise her teeth so her wool is getting nicer as it grows.

It is hoped that she will be seen at a show soon.
