Tonto National Monument, AZ

Albert and his sisters visited the Tonto National Monument during their trips to AZ.  He is sharing some of the photos taken there.

Tonto National Monument is a national monument in the Superstition Mountains of central Arizon.

The area is known for its characteristic saguaro cacti.

People during the 13 to 15th centries farmed in the Salt River Valley and supplemented their living with hunting and gathering native plants.

During the 13th to the 15th centries, the people lived in cliff dwellings.

Many of these cliff dwellings are well-preserved today.

The entrance of a cliff dwelling.

The people at that time were quite sophisticated to build some stone structures.

The interior of the cliff dwelling was quite impressive.

More structures at the Tonto National Monument.

Albert and his sisters enjoy the visit to the Tonto National Monument.
