Living Through Another Heat Wave

Temperature in my town is 109, this is the second time we got to this temperature this year, it's a record breaking heat.   It's very hard for rabbits and for people.  Thank goodness the heat wave did not come last weekend, it would have been very difficult to do an outdoor show even though Monterey is currently in the 80s.  It was in the 60-70s when the show went on.   My home was in the 80s this time last weekend when I was at Monterey.

The swamp cooler is in full blast, the shades are drawn down to keep as much cool blast as possible.   The sprinkler that was installed to help prevent the threat of the fire now comes in very handy to help to lower the temperate in the barn.

Water running down the roof to the sides of the barn.

With the heat wave, people are all using more power to keep cool.  PG&E issues warning of rolling blackout.   The buns cannot survive this kind of temperature without power, so we bought a generator this year to ease our mind.

Since I am not very good at any mechanical things, Albert shows me the steps of how to turn on the generator in case he's not home.  This is step #1.

This button is step #2.

These are the outlets to plug in the extension cords for the swamp cooler.  Hope we won't have to use it and so looking forward to midweek when the temperature will be going down to the 90s.   I can't believe that 90s would be considered as a desirable temperature but sure it's way better than 109!
