American Fuzzy Lop Scarf

American Fuzzy Lop is one of the 7 ARBA recognized wool breeds, the other 6 are English Angora, French Angora, Giant Angora, Satin Angora, Jersey Wooly and Lionhead.   

There are 15 points allocated to wool in the American Fuzzy Lop standard while all four Angora breeds allocate 55-60 points to wool.  Though the breed does not emphasize nor produce as much wool as any of the four Angora breeds, the Fuzzy wool is still useful in fiber creation.  

Here is a scarf made by Carol of handspun yarn from the American Fuzzy Lop wool.  

This scarf has a special meaning: The wool was harvested long time ago from Brian Hartzell's American Fuzzy Lop rabbits.   Brian was a judge, a major breeder/exhibitor of American Fuzzy Lop and Jersey Wooly, also the presenter of the broken Jersey Wooly.  This blog started in August 2005 inspired by Brian's visit to Carol's summer show in June 2005.    This is the first blogpost of our blog:
