Rabbit Knitting Gadget

It's a rabbit image on a wooden panel, why does it have all these holes?

No, we are not stabbing the rabbit on its chest.   It's a knitting needle gauge.  This hole shows the needle is 2.25 diameter, size 1.   This is one of Carol's favorite size for knitting socks.

This needle is size 2.5 with 3.00 diameter.    The US system assigns the smaller number with smaller diameter while the British system assigns the opposite.  The smaller the number, the bigger the diameter.   It's better to use a needle gauge than just use the size number in discussion as it could really cause confusion.

My favorite size needle is number 11 or 8.00 diameter!

I occasionally use number 15 or diameter 10.00.

Sorry size number 50 needle, there isn't a hole in the gauge for you!  No clue what the diameter is.
