Hot Shooter Wins Best Of Breed Silkie

Silkie Best of Breed Hot Shooter.

Armando is grooming Hot Shooter on a tiny stand before putting it on the show platform.

Hot Shooter is now on the show platform ready for judging.

If we Angora exhibitors fuss over our rabbits, the Silkie cavy exhibitors could be even worse.

Days before the show, a cavy has to be bathed then dried with a hair dryer. In the long hair breed such as Peruvian or Silkie, they have to have rollers roll up their long coats. To get ready for showing, the rollers have to be carefully unrolled then the coat combed and to be presented on a show platform. Once the rollers are off, the exhibitor needs to stay with the cavy because it cannot be put back to the carrier or the entire process of rolling and unrolling and combing are to be repeated.

Here are pictures of our favorite rabbit judge Armando working on his gorgeous Silkie Hot Shooter. Hot Shooter certainly matches his name, he shoots all the way to Best of Breed.

I had no idea cavies required so much grooming. The one picture is a gorgeous animal.
