Mid Autumn Festival Celebration 2025

The 15th day of the 8th month on the Lunar calendar is the Chinese Mid Autumn Festival; in 2025 this date falls on October 6, that is today!  Mid Autumn Festival is one of the most important festivals in the Chinese culture.   In China, this is an 8-day holiday period where the families gather together to celebrate.  The importance of the festival rivals the Lunar New Year.

Bunnies celebrate Mid Autumn Festival.
Our blog has made posts about this Chinese festival each year.   The story behind it has been told many times, see one:  Northern California Angora Guild: Mid Autumn Festival 2015

Betty's good friend Shyun is so kind to gift her a box of moon cakes.  The two on the right side are the traditional kind.   The two on the left are a modified version, could be considered as moon cakes but they can also be considered regular flakey pastries.

Betty brought one of the traditional mooncakes to the show at King City to share, this is the first time a moon cake makes an appearance in a rabbit show.   The moon cake is yummy but very sweet and dense, usually one only eats a small slice as a treat.

Casey and Carol say, mmmmmm good.

Casey and Betty say it's good.

Carol gets a small second slice.
