Shout Out to Santa Clara County Fair Management

If you enjoy the shows at San Jose last weekend as well as the shows in the last few years, give a shout out to the management.  This is Salene Durate who was the fair manager now promoted to the top CEO job of the Santa Clara Fair Management Co.

The arch in the background is the the entrance of the Santa Clara Fairgrounds.   Salene is credited for chartering the rabbit open all breed club "Santa Clara County Rabbit and Cavy Shows" with the help of Randy Shumaker in 2022.   Since the inception, the management has put on 2-3 show weekends a year.    Salene and husband David were youth rabbit and large animal show exhibitors at the Santa Clara Fair in the 1980s, they are paying forward to help the continuation of the animal hobbies in the greater Bay Area.    Even being at the top job of the CEO, Salene comes to all the shows to say hi to exhibitors and judges, makes sure things are run smoothly.    When you see her at the shows next time, send her some love!

This is Maddie Beckwith, the livestock assistant to Salene.    She carries out all the necessary arrangements of putting on the large animal shows as well as the rabbit shows.

Maddie also makes the beautiful rabbit catalogs in addition to making sure that the equipment are in  proper places, lunches and water are ready for the judges, show check-in and entry fees are paid, ... etc.  She usually stays at the show from beginning to the end of the show.    When you see her at the San Jose shows, make sure to say Hi to her.
