Same Color? Yes

We are familiar with this colored English Angora, it's a Tort.   In the new SOP that will take effect on January 1, 2021, it'll be called Black Tort in the Angora Color Guide.

These are both Tort, on the left is American Fuzzy Lop and right is the same English Angora in the first photo.    See how much darker is the American Fuzzy Lop?   The American Fuzzy Lop is a wool breed just like the English Angora but has more guard hairs.  Guard hairs have more intense color.

Next to the American Fuzzy Lop is a Mini Satin.  Guess what color it is?   If you guess Tort, you are right.   The Mini Satin has sheen, the reflection of the sheen makes the color even more intense.  Comparing to the Mini Satin, the American Fuzzy Lop seems to be light in color.

We have all three breeds side by side, all three are Tort, or Black Tort to be more specific.  The Mini Satin in the middle has the most intense color, and the American Fuzzy Lop is next in line while the English Angora looks pale in comparison.    The English Angora is the breed that has the most underwool in all wool breeds, so the color is the least intense among any breed of rabbits.

We have done a similar comparison between the Chocolate Tort English Angora and Chocolate Tort Mini Satin in the past, see:
