Mid-Autumn Festival 2020

Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival, the 15th day of the 8th month in the lunar calendar.   This is the only Asian festival that is associated with a rabbit, sometimes it's also referred to as the rabbit festival.

In 2006, the folklore of Churn O with her rabbit and the Mid-Autumn Festival was told on:

The story has been retold many times over the years since this blog started in 2005.  This year an animated movie added to the favor of the Mid-Autumn Festival:

The movie called "Over the Moon".  The story is not exactly the same as the Mid-Autumn Festival as told in the Chinese folklore but "It's a retelling of the classic Chinese Myth",   A modern day girl name Fei Fei builds a rocket ship to fly to the moon to meet the moon goddess Chang'e, according to the film synopsis.

The moon goddess Chang'e referred to in the movie should be the same as Churn O in the story above.  Due to different dialects in Chinese language, the pronunciation could be be different thus the different translation.   If you go to Wikipedia, this "goddess" has many more than two spellings to show her name.

The movie is scheduled to be released on October 23, 2020.  It's too bad as the Mid Autumn festival 2020 is today, October 1, 2020 that is the 15th day of the 8th month in the Lunar Calendar.  It'd have been even better meaning if the movie were released today.
