Betty's Fun Trip to Chicago: Traveling Day

 

 

 

Betty says,

 

I received a message from a TV producer on Friday asking whether I'd be interested in taking my rabbits to a TV talk show.   Of course, I said.  We had 6 or 7 phone calls and e-mails back and forth on the same day.   It was decided that I'd fly with my rabbits to Chicago on Tuesday and to return home on Wednesday. 

 

I went to the double shows at Hanford on Saturday as planned. 

 

On Monday, airline, hotel and transportation reservations were all set, so I took my kennel out of storage and prepared for the trip.

 

 

I started my day at 2 am, arriving at SFO before 5 am.   The check-in was longer than lengthy at the Delta counter.   It was determined that the aircraft for the original reservation wasn't suitable for live animals so the agent rebooked more than once to find the correct aircraft and the optimal route.  Then there was the question whether health certificate was required; such issue had never come up in the past.   After lots of discussion, finally the booking and check-in were done.   In the picture is the porter taking my kennel to the TSA office waiting for security check.   

Ida is the white on the left and Franchesa is on the right at the top level of the kennel.
 

I'm at the Minneapolis airport waiting for the connecting flight to Chicago.   The luggage shoot is behind the food lift truck.

 

Windy City Limousine Service provided transportation between the airport and the hotel and to and from the studio.
 

Arrival at the Kinzie hotel in Chicago, as usual, there are curious lookers and photo takers of my English Angora.


 

The hotel deco is very bright.

 

Franchesca and Ida are finally in the hotel room.

 

I packed the blower, turntable, feed, grooming tools and even my clothing in the bottom carrier.
 

At bedtime, I took everything out of the bottom carrier and put Ida in for her to stretch and to sleep.
 

I took out the divider on the top carrier and it becomes Franchesca's sleeping quarter.
