ARBA Sanctioned All Breed Shows in Japan

On June 4, there were double all breed shows held in Japan. Three judges from the US traveled there to do the judging: Cathy S. from CA, Mike A. from IA and Roger H. from OR.

Cathy and Mike are all breed judges while Roger is a specialty judge for selected breeds. Cathy and Mike judged Angora.

On the top, Cathy is judging a white English Angora senior buck. Second photo shows Mike's hands on the Best of Breed English Angora during the Best In Show judging. The third photo gives a glimpse of the show room. It looks very clean and all the rabbits are on nice and clean tables. The fourth photo shows the prizes given to the breeds and classes. Yellow is a more prestigious color in Japan; first place is the "yellow ribbon", not the "blue ribbon" commonly known in the US. The last photo shows remark cards. One can see that some of the words are in English but some in Japanese.

Japan has two show dates a year, one in June and the other in December. Since there isn't any ARBA licensed judges in Japan until very recently, they have to hire judges from the US. It is quite an expensive hobby for the rabbit enthusiasts. There is now one judge, Julie U. who just received her license, in Japan.
